Damon Chua (Black Coffee Green Tea)
Damon is excited to be a part of My Asian Mom for the second time. His plays have been staged in New York, Los Angeles, and at least five other states, and he is published by Samuel French and Smith & Kraus. He has also been known to write poetry and short stories. For the record, Damon would like to make it very clear that the Asian mom in his play is NOT based on his real mom, or at least, not 100%.
Fin Coe (Dim Sum)
Born and raised in California, Fin is an actor and a writer, who is proud to now call Chicago his home. He is a company member of both Halcyon Theatre and the Pretty/Windy Theatre Company. Fin would like to thank his family for all of their love and support.
Kathy Hsieh (Oh What A Relief It Is)
Kathy was selected by Dramatist Magazine as “50 to Watch.” Her scripts have been produced by the Northwest Asian American Theatre, Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre, and featured at the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival, 14/48, the national Asian American Theatre Conference in Minneapolis, and for Infinity Box. Her script B4 was selected as part of the International Centre for Women Playwrights’ Chicago Her-rah Festival 2007 and won Honorable Mention in New York’s New Works of Merit Playwriting Contest. She recently received A Special Award of Recognition by The Gypsy Awards for Excellence in Playwriting for her work writing thirteen scripts for her long-running episodic Sex in Seattle.
Christine Toy Johnson (Do These Genes Make Me Look Fat?)
Christine is an award-winning writer, actor, filmmaker and advocate for inclusion based in NYC. Her work has been developed with the Roundabout Theatre Company, Crossroads Theatre, Diverse City Theatre Company, Barrow Group, Weston Playhouse, Gorilla Rep, Cap21 etc. and is included in the Library of Congress Asian Pacific American Performing Arts Collection. Larry Leopoldo (Bulad)
Larry has adapted and written one-act plays for CIRCA Pintig and is the author of a new ebook called The Mysteries of the V.E.R.M., an urban sci-fi/fantasy novel set in Chicago. He has a B.A. in English Literature with an emphasis in Creative Writing from DePaul University. A big thank you to his wife Ginger for all the love and support throughout the years.
Lani T. Montreal (Dead Dolls)
Lani is an educator, writer, performer, and community activist. Her writings have been published and produced in Canada, the U.S., the Philippines and in cyberspace. Among her memorable plays are: Gift of Tongue, Looking for Darna, Alien Citizen, and her most-toured (and personal favorite) comedy drama about gender and immigration titled Sister OutLaw, produced by Pintig Cultural Group. She is the recipient of the 2008 3Arts Ragdale Residency Fellowship for Playwriting, the 2001 Samuel Ostrowsky Award for her memoir “Summer Rain,” and the 1995 JVO Philippine Award for Excellence in Journalism for her environmental expose “Poison in the River.” Lani teaches English & Communication Arts at Malcolm X College and is most proud of her multi-cultural, multi-species family.
Conrad A. Panganiban (Agent Kilikili’s Mom and His Male Order Bride)
Conrad is a playwright living, writing, and dreaming in Alameda, CA. His work has been performed by Bindlestiff Studio, Kearny Street Workshop, Sinag-tala Filipino Theater and Performing Arts Association, Taste Better Wit, UnityCLAP Theatre Group, 06 Ensemble, CIRCA Pintig, and A-Squared Theatre Workshop. His play, The Barbary Caper, was recently awarded First Place in the Playwrights CageMatch National Script Competition produced by the Douglas Morrison Theatre in Hayward, CA. He is a member of Asian American Theater Company's (SF) NewWorks Incubator Program while pursuing an MFA in Playwriting at San Francisco State University. Melisa is a New York-based playwright focused on creating aesthetically groundbreaking, socially relevant, and emotionally transporting work.
