Loosely based on Hedda Gabler, The Wind Cries Mary is set amidst the turbulent anti-war demonstrations and beginnings of Asian-American identity politics in the ‘60s. Eiko Hanabi finds herself caught between life choices made during a transforming political and racial climate, and an emerging model that promises more freedom and choice.
