The directors for My Asian Mom 2014

Kareem Khubchandani (Imperfectly Frank) 
Kareem is a PhD candidate in Performance Studies at Northwestern University researching gay nightlife in India and the South Asian diaspora. He has performed with Eye on India’s Story Exchange (2013), Serendipity Theatre’s 2nd Story (2009-2013), Rasaka Theatre’s Bombay In My Soul (2011), and About Face Theatre’s The Homo Show (2009). Kareem has choreographed for Trikone-Chicago, and Northwestern’s A.NU.Bhav, and he performs in drag as LaWhore Vagistan across the city. Jin Kim (Sunday Surprise) 
Jin Kim is psyched to be working with A-Squared Theatre Workshop again on this year's production of My Asian Mom. He even has one. Special thanks to friends and family for their tireless support, no matter the pursuit.

Marc Rita (Nanay) 
Marc has worked in theater since the late 1970s. He is a co-founder of Chicago’s first Asian American theater company, MinaSama-No. Marc has performed in Chicago, LA and regional theaters since 1990. He last appeared at Strawdog Theatre in Brett Neveau’s Detective Partner Hero Villain. Marc returns to directing theater after several years of directing Asian American events and video.

Cary Shoda (Tea and Talk and Okay, My Asian Mom 2014 curator/lead director) 
Cary is an A-Squared company member who performed in Trial By Water, produced The Other Shore and The Wind Cries Mary, and directed Agent Kilikili's Mom and His Male Order Bride in My Asian Mom 2.0.1.3. He has also collaborated with Halcyon Theatre Company, The James Downing Theatre, American Blues Theatre, Teatro Vista/Goodman Theatre, the side project, and others. Best to Max. 

Giau Truong (Um Sa Det Yoong) 
Giau is currently working on The Quail Room: Anthropomorphic Observation, for which he is raising quails and has been photographing, making videos, and sketching their life and death cycles. It is still a work in progress. He is so happy and excited to be working with A-Squared again. He is also happy and excited he is going to travel to London this summer with a traveling opera show. #Facebook Status. #Friend Me #Like this Bio. 

Alex Wu (Why Do We Mistreat Our Korean Mothers? (In Ten Parts), Halo Halo Birthday)
Is a founding member of the Inappropriate Theatre Company and The Rocky Mountain Conservatory Theatre. He is excited to be part of another year of A-squared's My Asian Mom and hopes to be part of other productions with them.

Joe Yau (Cobra v Tiger) 
Joe is excited to be a part of My Asian Mom 2014. He is also happy to be part of the A-Squared Theatre Workshop family. Joe was an original member of Stir-Friday Night! some seventeen years ago and hopes to help A-Squared prosper and grow in the upcoming years. Thank you to his wife and kids for their support. Thanks to Max Chung, Mia Park, Cary Shoda, and Allen Sermonia for starting the A-Squared adventure. And finally, Max, we can't wait to have back!
